Lo- Yes, definitely a zen moment!

LOVING the bolus calculator. It's amazing when I learn something new which makes life much easier and I think, gosh, I wish I had figured that out sooner! (Which is why I need all my blog/twitter friends like you.)

Wendy- I am so not looking forward to the tween/teen years...for so many reasons!

Q's target range is 100-200, but we've actually been correcting for any BG above 150. I think that helps us too.

You're reporting great A1c's, what a success!

I think this qualifies as one of Kelly Kunik's zen moments. Congrats on the improvement!

I'm also pleased to hear using the calculator is working out well for you! Woohoo!

Congrats!!!

I remember when Addy reached 8.9% and I felt so defeated because I didn't know what else we could be doing. She was 3 at the time, and it seemed so overwhelming.

I scoured the forums for help....and, like you guys, we began pre-bolusing and increasing overnight vigilance. I also decreased her overall targets from 180/day and 200/night to 150/around the clock. These were hard changes for me to make because I was worried about her tendency to eat varying amounts at different times of the day....but, we learned how to make it work :)

I completely relate to your victory! 6 months after that 8.9%, we made it to 7.8% and haven't been above 7.5% since. She's 7 now....and just surpassed her 5 year DIAversary. Last A1c was 6.8%.

It feels good right now.

Ah, but puberty hormones and "new attitudes" are going to enter the scene before too long....and I've heard some stories!!!! I s'pose I'll be back to scouring the net and racking my brain when that time comes.

If there isn't a cure for diabetes, I sure hope there's a cure for puberty soon!!!!!
