Okay, just one more thing: I wouldn’t trade her for the world.

And I will do this for her day in and day out.

And I will fight for her.

And I will protect her.

And make sure that her home away from home continues to be a place of freedom and normal-ness for her. Even though I worry second after second that my phone will ring.

And I am so proud of her and how she handles this. She is strong. She is brave. She rarely complains. She rarely objects to what must be done, day after day.


Do you remember when someone asked what I would like people to say to her?

At the hospital this weekend, there must have been a dozen nurses and doctors who said to her “You are brave.”

As she got her IV. You are brave.

Each time she got her finger checked. You are brave.

With each injection. You are brave.

With each blood draw. You are brave.

And she is.
