Bookmark this on your phone so that you can pull it up when you go to the county fair. Yes, it’s okay to indulge in an elephant ear or footlong corn dog. After all the county fair only comes around once a year!
Is there a fair food that you like that I haven’t included here? Let me know and I’ll find out the carbs.

I almost choked looking at the cotton candy carb amount.
YIKES!
Joanne- But consider that cotton candy doesn’t weigh that much and that carb count is for eating probably an entire thing of it.
I am cautious about bolusing for cotton candy after our experience last year. I think she spiked quickly and then came shooting down when the insulin began to peak. Read our experience here: http://www.d-mom.com/cotton-candy/
Yeah, I wouldn’t know how to dose for that either. It’s like the meringues that Elise ate in Portugal. I just decided to let her eat one to see what would happen to her BG. The answer? NOTHING!
Weird.
I think meringues are mostly whipped egg whites which have no carbs. I keep thinking I should look into those for a treat. The popular brand in the US is Miss Meringues, or something like that. At Weight Watchers meetings people always rave about them.
Fried oreos? Gross! And in our experience those darn soft pretzels always act like they’re way more than 70g. Last time I let Sarah have one, she ended up in the high 300′s an hour later. Now we usually just bring our own healthy food, and Sarah doesn’t mind a bit because the fair is a whole lot more fun when you don’t feel sick from a 300+ bg.
Michelle-
I’m not encouraging or condoning eating fried oreos, LOL!
Target pretzels are way higher in carbs than I would have thought. I learned that lesson shortly after diagnosis when I thought for sure Q could eat half of one for her snack. I was so incredibly wrong!
Can you help me find carb counts for French waffles. We get them at the County Fair. I have been unable to find anything on them. Thanks
