{D-Mom Tested} Custom 3D Bands

Custom 3D Bands

My daughter has two beautiful engraved medical alert bracelets that I ordered from Lauren’s Hope. She wears them whenever we leave the house, especially if she will be spending time away from us. But over the summer I wished for a simpler and much more inexpensive bracelet that she could wear, particularly when at swim lessons, soccer camp, and tennis.

You see, I made a fatal mistake: I had her put on her nice bracelet before leaving for soccer. Then afraid it would somehow break and be lost on the soccer field, I took it off and may or may not have stuck it in my pocket. And then the next day I realized I didn’t know where it was. Did it fall out as I pulled the phone or keys out of my pocket? Was it somewhere on the soccer field or on one of the fields on the way back to our car? Did it fall out when we stopped for lunch?

I’ll never know and I’m actually a little surprised it hasn’t been found and returned to us. It only has THREE of our phone numbers engraved on it!

When I saw the Custom 3D Bands I knew that these served a very useful purpose (and wish I had thought to get one before soccer camp). These silicone bands can be worn in the pool, and yes, at soccer or tennis. In fact you can wear them in the shower. They can be worn 24 hours a day if you want.

Custom 3D Bands

The simple design includes the medical alert symbol as well as the word “diabetic.” These Diabetic ID Bands come in a rainbow of colors; my daughter’s favorite are pink and purple. And the price is right at $7.95. They come in three sizes (my six-year-old wears a small). The company also makes Diabetic Alert Sleeves which you can put on a watchband, shoe laces, or an adjustable cap. These are $1.95.

And did I mention shipping is FREE?

(Shipping is free in the US. For international orders, they ask for a minimum purchase of 5 bands & there will be a shipping and handling charge.)

Since receiving these, she’s worn her bracelets to dance and gymnastics regularly. They’ve also seen lots of time in the water. She sometimes wears them for a week or more at a time even when she has on her fancy bracelet. They have held up well and in fact look the same as when we received them. They are not worn out and the color has not faded.

I also slid one of the Diabetic Alert Sleeves on her PE tennis shoes.

For my active child, these bracelets are a must for sports, dance classes, and swimming.

And know that the company has a personal tie to diabetes, both the founder and the marketing director have sons with Type 1 diabetes.

These are great. Going to 100% order some as my daughter gets really dry hands over the winter and these won’t chafe as much on her wrists. She can’t wear the necklaces as she breaks them every single time at school for some reason.

2 Rachel October 11, 2010 at 7:14 am

These are great! Tristan would love to win. Thanks for posting this! 🙂

3 Tara October 11, 2010 at 7:45 am

These are great! Love the variety of colors! My daughter Noa would love to have a few–she would enjoy coordinating them with her outfits! She dances 6 hours a week and does competitions/conventions, so these would be perfect!

4 Beckie October 11, 2010 at 7:45 am

Oh my daughter breaks out from metal jewelery. These would be perfect for her!

5 Michelle Pape October 11, 2010 at 7:55 am

These look great!

6 j.Caoilfhionn Hardy October 11, 2010 at 8:20 am

Just wondering if you were able to find the sizes (in inches) listed anywhere? Maddi has really tiny wrists… Thanks 🙂

I have been looking for something just like this for over a year now. Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!!

8 Christine October 11, 2010 at 9:11 am

Thank you for the review! We need to buy new bracelets.

9 adrian r October 11, 2010 at 9:22 am

These bracelets are so much more realistic for a child to be wearing!

10 Kaileen Gibbs October 11, 2010 at 9:22 am

We buy silicone bands from another company, but I adore these. They’re much cuter and more stylish than the ones I normally order. I think Deirdre will adore these. So I’ll have to break down and buy some.

11 Mila Ferrer October 11, 2010 at 9:32 am

I’ve been looking for something like that for my seven year old boy. We had a sport band, but every time it gets wet takes a long time to dry. Those bracelets look awesome!!!

12 Beth October 11, 2010 at 9:34 am

These look great! My daughter was just saying that she needs a new medical alert id and I haven’t ordered one for my self yet, so I think I will give these a try!

13 Denise October 11, 2010 at 10:02 am

My son has been wearing one of these since he was diagnosed almost 2 years ago. He rarely ever takes it off and it still looks great! Perfect for an active kiddo!!
Hope we win so he can change it up a little 😉

14 Crystal October 11, 2010 at 10:06 am

This is something we’ve been looking for, our 5 year old loves to wear these kinds of bands, and he doesn’t like to wear those metal medical bracelets he’s too darn active. This would be great for our little guy. Hope he wins!

15 Chandra October 11, 2010 at 10:42 am

I love the colors. Looking for something inexpensive that she can wear swimming and in the bath. Thank you! Chandra

16 Tracy S October 11, 2010 at 10:56 am

very cool indeed!!!

17 Michelle carlson October 11, 2010 at 11:37 am

Would love to try some of these bracelets for my hard to please teenage son. We have not found one that he likes to wear. He will wear dog tags but those don’t work when playing sports.

18 Tonya October 11, 2010 at 2:44 pm

Wow! These look so great. They will be the perfect solution for our daughter, who does not like the metal engraved bracelets I’ve ordered. Thanks for posting!

19 Alexis (sugar_nova) October 11, 2010 at 2:58 pm

We have one but would love to win another!

20 Reyna October 11, 2010 at 6:44 pm

Count me in.

21 Alondra October 11, 2010 at 7:42 pm

Hoping this is an answer to our problems related to medic alert jewelry. Have also lost some very expensive bracelets. Can’t wait for my daughter to try these out!

22 Rachael October 11, 2010 at 7:59 pm

We have ordered 5 bracelets and my daughter absolutely LOVES them. She wears them to school and loves to show them off to her friends.

23 Amy October 11, 2010 at 9:01 pm

Love them! Count us in, please 🙂

24 mindi October 11, 2010 at 10:06 pm

Just five months after diagnosis, Gavin still does not have a bracelet to wear! He’s 17 months and I wonder if he would leave it on… either way, it’s probably about time we get him some! I’d love these!

25 Carrie October 12, 2010 at 8:41 am

These are perfect for my 3 yr old. She won’t leave any others on but these are “cool like bubba’s school bracelet”. Thank you so much for this we will be getting some!!

26 Lani October 12, 2010 at 11:24 am

This is a great bracelet for sports. Thanks for sharing.

27 Amy Scheer October 12, 2010 at 12:04 pm

We’re newly diagnosed, and I had a devil of a time online trying to find a bracelet appropriate for my 7-year-old son. First one was nice, pricey, and too big; next one was nice, cheap, and too small. We’ve been doing well with our current ones from coolmedid; however, we’re between sizes, and he’s always messing with the dangly bit, which bugs me more than him.

So please: enter me in that contest! Thanks.

28 Benita October 12, 2010 at 2:57 pm

Great idea!!!! My daughter is really into sports, travel softball, cheering, 4 wheeling, etc…very active. These would be great for her since she is such a tomboy-fashionista!!!! She was recently diagnosed in August of this year and it’s been hard on us all…….she’s 13 and was diagnosed a week prior to her high school year……lots of drama.

29 Cindy October 14, 2010 at 7:44 am

Count us in! Lily would love these!

30 Tania Prosser October 14, 2010 at 9:49 am

Very pretty colors. My 6 yr. old would love to wear these.

31 Amy @ Tiny Blessings October 15, 2010 at 5:11 pm

Ahhh, these would go so well with the Silly Bandz collection that appears on my dd’s arm from time to time. 🙂

32 Marina October 17, 2010 at 11:43 am

Looks great, and my daughter love the colors! They are much suitable for an active child then the metal one:)

33 Bridget October 17, 2010 at 11:53 am

These are awesome. Clifford has a black and Red one which he shows everyone no matter where we are. He showed all the nurses and doctors at the Nicu when his twin sisters were there, and the nurses in my room when they came up to visit. He show’s the waitresses at restaraunts when we are out also.

34 april October 17, 2010 at 11:55 am

These look so cool!! I think it would be perfect for my very active son.

40 Theresa Stothers October 18, 2010 at 9:12 am

We are really struggling getting my daughter to wear her ID, I think she would like this style.

41 James lawrence October 18, 2010 at 9:16 am

Good post. I need to get one of those bracelets myself..and that isn’t a bad price, either. Keep it up!

42 Tina Siegel October 18, 2010 at 11:26 am

Thanks for all the great info. Love the bands!

43 shannon October 18, 2010 at 12:23 pm

Those look really awesome, thanks for posting about them!

44 stephanie October 18, 2010 at 1:49 pm

I have been looking for something like this. My daughter is a cheerleader, they would be great! Plus, the rubber bracelets are “in” right now, 🙂

45 Maureen Israel October 18, 2010 at 3:45 pm

Wow, these are great, I’m always in a panic worrying that we will lose his medic alert bracelets as he likes to take them off whenever he plays hockey…gotta go order some. Thanks.

46 Jamie October 20, 2010 at 8:49 am

This is a great idea Leighann. Medical bracelets don’t do anyone any good if they aren’t worn.

47 Ann Onimous March 11, 2011 at 8:18 am

Deirdre got some of these last night for her 3 year anniversary with diabetes. She LOVES them. I will be ordering more for her.

48 Bryan August 30, 2012 at 8:41 pm

BEWARE! If you came across this blog while searching for bands like I did and order these bands, you will not get them nor will you hear from anyone at the company as to where they are. Waste of money and time. Notice that their Facebok page is no longer active after so many negative complaints were posted from dissatisfied customers.

49 Leighann August 31, 2012 at 8:17 am

Thanks for giving us a heads up. Operations switched hands last year and I haven’t ordered any since then. It’s a shame if the company is out of business because it has been a good product for us.

50 Kristen Lundy September 19, 2012 at 11:53 am

I tried to order from 3dCustom Bands just now and the site asks for your email and pass word. when I clicked on contact us, the screen stays the same. Plus their facebook page is no longer activated. Is this company no longer in existence? if so, besides Lauren’s Hope is there another place to get the silicone bracelets? My son is very picky!
Thank you!
