One dawn Q came to our bed. When she used our bathroom, still groggy, she suddenly exclaimed, “Mommy, we have an emergency situation here. The straw (cannula) is out.”
What she didn’t know was that I had changed her pod in the night and soaked the adhesive of the old one with baby oil so the adhesive would slip off without pulling or irritating. She didn’t realize she had a new pod on her back.
That it was an “emergency situation” made me laugh…after I realized that there was really no emergency.

oh bless
How timely! Yesterday I woke up to the strains of “Mom, my infusion set came out in the middle of the night- I don’t feel so good!!!”
And no wonder, with a BG of 387 and small ketones! Luckily, we got things under control in a hurry. Who needs coffee when you are jolted awake with adrenaline ; )
Glad it was only a false alarm at your house!!!
Oh that’s an adorable story! (Obviously because it wasn’t a real emergency). And major props to you! I can’t imagine sleeping through that, so you are exceptional! (My mom agrees).
I love this story – so adorable. I love that she calls the cannula a “straw”. And I love, even more, that she didn’t feel the new pod at all – that is what really makes me smile!!
