{Diabetes Blessings Week} Thankful For…

Diabetes Blessings Week

My friend Mike who writes My Diabetic Heart asked people to count their diabetes blessings this week.

Are we thankful that our kids have diabetes? Um, no. Of course not. But maybe some good things have come out of diabetes.

Maybe they’ve met a great friend who also has diabetes. Or maybe you’ve met another awesome d-parent.

Maybe your child has become more independent or confident.

Maybe they have great math skills!

I am thankful that my husband and I have jobs with decent insurance, even if it seems like we are constantly paying copays and premiums.

I am thankful that we live in a developed nation with access to insulin and test strips and technology like the insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor.

I am thankful that we as a family can (most of the time) have a good perspective about Q’s diabetes.

I am thankful that I have found a support network online and that I a can now share my knowledge and support with others through D-Mom Blog and Kids First, Diabetes Second.

Which reminds me, I am thankful that I somehow pulled off writing a book this year! And I’m crazy thankful to all who have shown me support in the process.

What are you thankful for?

Insulet asked me what I and a bunch of other great members of the DOC* what we are thankful for. So take a few minutes to read Giving Thanks to…Diabetes? Promoting the Positive on OmniPod’s Suite D blog and head on over to Mike’s blog My Diabetic Heart to read more Diabetes Blessings Week posts.
