{Food} Food Day ’11

by Leighann on October 21, 2011

Join me this week for a few PSA’s about ways to raise awareness, raise money, and find support.

Food Day 2011

Join me in Food Day on October 24th.

Embrace this however you see fit (see the infographic below with all the goals of Food Day), but I’m proposing that since Food Day is on a Monday, that we pack our children’s lunches taking care that the following ingredients don’t make their way into the lunch box:

  • High fructose corn syrup (HFCS)
  • Artifical dyes Red 40 and Yellow 5
  • White flour as the first ingredient (breads should have whole wheat flour as the first ingredient listed)

Sometimes just taking the time to read labels can make you think about the food that you and your children are consuming,

Do you already try to avoid these ingredients? If not, are you up for packing a healthier school lunch on Food Day?

This sounds like a wonderful campaign! Thanks for letting us know about it! I avoid all of those foods/additives as well and am definitely all for promoting that more children avoid having them each day.

I don’t pack any children’s lunches but I’ll keep this in mind for whatever I eat myself that day. (Although I try to be conscious about it all the time) I would pass it on to my sister to have her partake with my niece and nephew’s lunches but they get the school lunch. Great campaign!
