My husband takes Q to the annual Daddy Daughter Dance just before Christmas each year. Each year it has a different theme and the theme a few months before her diagnosis was something like “Sugar Plum Ball.” One of the favors was a giant lollipop the size of her head.
She didn’t really eat sweets so I think she had a few licks over the next few days and it was forgotten (and eventually thrown away under cover of darkness).
Each year when they go to the dance I wonder if they will bring home something equally as sugary.
This weekend we were at a store and Q and I spied this display of ginormous lollipops. I said, “Q, how many carbs do you think this has?”
She made a guess and then little-miss-know-it-all read the label! See what happens when you teach your T1 kid to count carbs!

56 carbs…I always find that the pure sugar stuff isn’t as high as I expect it to be.
