{D-Mom Tested} Lands’ End Tote Bags…Perfect For This D-Mom on the Go!

by Leighann on December 11, 2012

We are big fans of Lands’ End in our house. I always buy my kids’ winter coats, snow bibs, heavy mittens for playing in the snow, balaclavas (Yes, that’s a word! And, no, I don’t know how it’s actually pronounced.), and snow boots from Lands’ End because they endure. They survive multiple machine washings and can be handed down to the next kid. (Tip: I try to get snow boots and snow pants in gender neutral colors to pass down from my daughter to son.)

Here’s a shopping tip: Log into EBATES and then click over to Lands’ End to earn rebates, look for e-mail coupons for Lands’ End which can often score deep discounts and free shipping, and enter your Shop Your Ways reward number. I save and earn a lot of money on my Lands’ End purchases this way.

Lands’ End asked me if I wanted to take a look at one of the items they are featuring in their gift giving lists. I like to keep my product reviews relevant to moms of kids with diabetes (though there is certainly more to life than diabetes!) and I instantly knew what I wanted.

I have a Medium Natural Open Top Canvas Tote Bag that I use all the time to schlep our diabetes stuff, especially to play practice, sports, and other extra curriculars. I throw in Q’s diabetes supply bag as well as a container of snacks, her water bottle, a book or the iPad to keep me occupied, and an assortment of other random things. I received my tote as a gift I think five years ago and it’s starting to show a little wear on the bottom seams. Not bad for FIVE years!

My husband even carries it when he’s on stage dad duty even though the straps and bottom are pink. (Real D-dads don’t mind carrying their daughter’s pink flower supply bag or tote bag.)

Anyway, knowing the quality and longevity of their tote bags, I chose the Medium Colored Open Top Tote Bag in True Navy. I was going to go for Rich Red, but opted for a more neutral color since the red would clash with the dark wine colored Women’s Polartec Aircore 200 Parka  I purchased this fall and wear every day.

I love my new bag and I really appreciate the dark color that won’t show dirt as much…because my tote goes everywhere. And I even like my name embroidered on it. Though maybe I should have had them put “D-Stuff” on it!

This colored tote bag seems just as durable as my old one and has already been to-and-from work, to music lessons, to lunch with Santa on the train, to the park, and basically all around town.

LOVE our Lands End bags too. I have one of their largest ones which is probably over 20 years old and there is NO wear shown. We use it for the beach. I have a newer one of their largest as well as a few medium ones and a sling backpack which is also good for D-stuff. My daughter has the smallest bag for her coloring supplies when we are out. Can’t beat lands end quality!

I have the same bad with my name on it. One of my students gave it to me as a Christmas gift last year. I too carry my daughters extra supplies in it when we leave our town. Love the durability of it.
