{D-Mom Tested} NEW OmniPod Bag From Sugar Medical Supply

by Leighann on August 16, 2012

I really like the supply pouch that came with our OmniPod PDM, even if it was boring black. But after a year or so of use, it was getting a little grimy and needed to be replaced. I loved that Sugar Medical Supply made colorful pouches so we used their pouch with a universal strap. I really appreciated the quality and it worked well, but like I said in my review, it needed just a smidge more room to hold all the supplies we normally carry.

So I was beyond thrilled to see their announcement that they partnered with Insulet to create a supply bag specifically for the OmniPod. The pouch comes in two patterns, one more masculine and one more feminine, and of course we opted for the girly one covered in hearts.

We received it just before Friends For Life and began using it right away. Lots of people asked us about it and the awesome thing about FFL is that you can actually go look at products and this year Sugar Medical was there.

We don’t like to take the PDM in and out, rather we prefer to leave it velcroed in place (that is totally not a correct conjugation of velcro which isn’t even a verb to begin with, but you know what I mean). So I appreciate that there is a wide see through strap that holds it in place. It is working really well for us so far.

The OmniPod style supply bag sells for $34.99 and they offer a matching pouch to hold extra supplies for $4.50.

I am loving all of your reviews this week. We just came out of the honeymoon phase so I’m feeling a little overwhelmed with everything. I am so grateful for you sending me the Kid’s First Diabetes Second book. I am LOVING it and finding it to be a tremendous asset to our new normal life with diabetes. Thanks for all that you do and for sharing!!!

I purchased a bag from Sugar Medical and it looked great but unfortunately the clear plastic strap inside tore away from the velcro. I tried to contact them, but there is NO contact info on the website or customer service info. So buyer beware … cute product … but if it breaks, you have no recourse. Ours was only used ONE day!! : (

Just found this review and I’m so excited about it! I’ve been carrying around an ugly black medical bag for 5 years and I never even thought about buying a cute bag.

Just bought the SugarMedical kit that holds the Omnipod PDM and the Dexcom CGM receiver. Really exciting…at first, but within days the Velcro closure for the CGM separated from the compartment, allowing the receiver to slip out. Very disappointing! Sent an email to SugarMedical along with iPhone photos of the undone Velcro. So far No Response!
