Daylight Savings Time To Do List:
- Change batteries in all of the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
- Change the time on all your clocks. (Remember: spring forward, fall back.)
- Change the time on all of your blood glucose meters, continuous glucose meters, and insulin pumps.
- Slowly adjust the Lantus dose since it needs to be taken within half an hour of your normal time.
When we were on MDI, we moved up our long acting insulin injection over the course of a week beginning a few days before if we remembered. Since we are on an insulin pump now, we needn’t worry about this.
I have to say it’s nice being on an insulin pump because we aren’t on a strict schedule like we were with MDI.
The official start of spring isn’t for another week, but I, for one, see the end of Daylight Savings Time as a beacon of better weather.
