{Diabetes Management} Eat Your Skittles!

by Leighann on February 4, 2013

(Narrated in a Marlin Perkins, Wild Kingdom voice…)

CGM alarms low. Blood sugar is 59. Q grabs the Skittle which I purchased on the cheap after Halloween.

She opens the package and starts sorting them into groups. One of each color. Come on, Q, don’t divide them up equally, just eat them.

Oh come on. Now your sorting them into groups by color? Just eat the Skittles, already!

Okay, blood sugar is coming up. I wonder if it would have come up a little more quickly had Q not taken the time to arrange them not once, but twice.

Ha!!!! That’s so funny! I’d never wait that long to eat them, not because of the Low… simply because I don’t have any sense of patience when it comes to being in Skittles-needing mode and wanting my BGs to boost. Did she end up eating all of the color-grouped Skittles? :))

Silly girl. My girl takes too much time deciding on what she’ll have. At school she does tabs, juice, smarties. At home there are other options for her and she has to figure out which one she wants and pretty soon I’m yelling, “Just have a juice already!”

Glad to know we are not the only ones who do these things. Last night, my 14 T1 son dropped to 30, I offered him juice, but he refused, everything I offered did not appeal to his pallet. Finally settling on cranberry sauce. ?!? Seriously? It might of been less than a minute discussion, but felt like an eternity while he”decided” what he would use as his “life assistant” for the moment.

Cranberry sauce?! That made me chuckle. Of all things to reach for.

Sounds like something Caylin would do! She loves to organize stuff like that! Ha! 😉
