D-Mom Blog Type 1 Tuesday

Featured D-Blogs of the Week

Here are some of my favorite posts I have read recently:

Rachel of Finding Joy Dear Mom of the Little Boy With Celiac Disease (Those of you doing double duty of diabetes and celiac will definitely relate, but so will the rest of us.)

Peter Gray in Psychology Today How Children Learn Bravery in an Age of Overprotection (Do you have a hard time giving your child freedom? Should we give them more? Via Kimball Dunlap.)

Ginger Vieira of Living in Progress Dancing Ballerina with Type 1 Diabetes! (Q is very active in sports and dance so I like reading stories like this.)

Kelly Kunik’s Guest Post on Diabetes Mine Navigating the Friendly Skies with Diabetes (We’ve only traveled by car and train since Q’s diagnosis. I’ve been keeping a mental file of tips and tricks when flying with diabetes. The last thing I want is for my young child to be patted down by a stranger or separated from me.)

Allison Blass of Lemonade Life On Being an “It Girl” (Allison addresses the perceived DOC “in crowd,” being an influencer, and how we all can feel like an outsider sometimes. Lots of good comments.)

Bennet Dunlap of Your Diabetes May Vary Merry Christmas and Happy Campers in the New Year (We are looking forward to sending Q to diabetes camp for the first time this coming summer. Bennet has some great info and links.)

Scott Benner of Arden’s Day Your opinion is needed: Insulin Pumps and Glucose Monitors (Scott has a quick anonymous survey to help get his charity off the ground.)

Thanks so much for the link this week. I’m really quite honored. When my Samuel was in the hospital last year when he was diagnosed with Celiac Disease they were monitoring him very closely for type1 diabetes. I appreciate your site as it brings awareness — and that is so what is needed.

Blessings to you.

Thanks for commenting, Rachel.

Type 1 diabetes and Celiac Disease often go hand in hand and I love to pass on good information when I find it. Also, though your child has one disease and mine has another, I find that our experiences and perceptions are often same-same.
