Were My Estimates on Target?

Before my daughter was diagnosed, we would often stop by the cafe at Target and grab a bag of popcorn on our way in. A big bag of popcorn keeps young kids occupied on shopping trips.

We don’t do that as often now, but if it’s snack time you can bet that we get a bag of corn.

Sometimes when we are out shopping, it’s convenient to pop in the cafe and grab lunch or dinner. But I’ve always had to guess the carb counts of the cafe fare.

Target does not have nutritional data on their website, nor do they have it quickly available in the store.

Each time we eat there I ask for it and each time I am told no.

Every single time I tell them to let their manager know that it’s important to me.

Today Q and I had several errands to run as she prepared for the birthday dinner she was planning for her dad. These errands spanned the lunch hour so we popped in the cafe at Target after checking out.

As I always do, I asked if they have nutritional data available. Much to my surprise the woman behind the counter said yes. As she brought me two sheets of paper in sheet protectors, she apologized that the print was so small and hoped that I could read what I needed.

I thanked her. I actually thanked her a few times.

So were my guesses on Target?

Well, I think I’ve been underestimating on a few of the items.

Once my daughter asked for a pretzel at snacktime and without knowing any better I let her eat half. Needless to say she was in the 300’s at her next meal!

Turns out that pretzel was around 90 carbs!

LOVE IT! It’s like you read my mind! We were just discussing today the food at Target and wondering about carb counts! I know it’s listed in one of my books/sites/apps but I couldn’t remember where I’d seen it! Thanks so much! We will definitely use this!!! That dang popcorn gets us every time!

The Calorie King book might have a few items, but the cafe has changed their menu recently.

Popcorn doesn’t stick with my daughter. Maybe it’s all the fiber. She can eat 15 grams carbs of popcorn and go low sometimes.

We actually went there today and she had popcorn and a Minute Maid for her afternoon snack.

oooooh, thank you for this! I’m always looking for carb count amounts from places to add to my handy little notebook that has all my carb factors in it.

Now you have me craving some popcorn!
