Why See War Horse?

by Leighann on December 23, 2011

Are you going to see the movie War Horse over holiday break?

Maybe you’ll be more motivated when you hear that the movie has a connection to type 1 diabetes.

This is actor Jeremy Irvine’s first film role. And guess what…he was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of six. This Brit also participated in an artificial pancreas study and he wears an insulin pump.

Look at the front page of his IMDB profile:

Ok, I have an admission to make: I was totally boycotting this movie before reading your post. There’s a story… A while back, I had the TV on in the background while doing something or other at the kitchen table. The movie trailer came on and I heard a line that went something like, “I will find you. No matter what, I will find you.” I believe it was the main character talking to the horse. This immediately brought to my mind a Daniel Day Lewis waterfall scene in Last of the Mohicans, where he says identical words to his newfound love. I yelled at the TV trailer for not being original, and declared my intent to boycott the movie. And I’ve repeated that every time since it’s come on TV… to Suzi’s eye-rolling, of course. I was completely content with my decision on this, until your post… and now. I may have to go see it afterall, and support a fellow PWD. Hmmm. Short story long in blog-comment form: Thanks for posting this! I’m there! :))

Let me know what you think. I rarely get to the actual theater. But I’ll definitely watch it on DVD.

Um, and he’s cuter than a bunny riding a puppy with sparkles and feathers!!! Ok, so how old is he now? Some websites say 21, legal, but still a kiddo 🙂 ha. Simmer down, Heather…

Just kidding. Love it that T1D is a badge he appears to wear proudly!!
