World Diabetes Day

What did you do for World Diabetes Day?

When I asked Q what we should do, she said we should have a party that includes dancing.

You Go Girl

Blood Glucose

In the morning as we were getting ready for breakfast Q got out her PDM for her finger check. I said, you know what, go ahead and do it yourself. And she did!

In fact she checked her blood sugar each and every time today.

Did she do it exactly how I do it? Nope. The only thing I think I am going to coach her on is putting the test strip in first so that it’s ready when she gets that drop of blood.

But I am so proud of her for stepping up and doing it all by herself today!

Let Them Eat Cake

WDD Cupcake

You didn't think we'd celebrate without blue cupcakes, did you?

WDD Super Hero

Yes, that's a super hero shirt. And, yes, it does have a cape!

Big Blue Test

Are you doing the Big Blue Test today? We know that exercise is good for us, but what effect does it have on your child’s blood sugar?

Check your child’s blood sugar.
Exercise for 14 minutes.
Check her blood sugar again.

Enter your results on the Big Blue Test website.

The Big Blue Test video received over 100,000 which means that Roche will donate $75,000 worth of insulin to children who need it. But that doesn’t mean you can’t watch the wonderful video again!

The Rwanda Mission

This November, Team Type 1 is sending six professional cyclists with Type 1 diabetes to Rwanda for a nine day bike race. They are requesting unused and unopened test strips to be distributed to children in Rwanda. They are also accepting monetary donations.

I wanteth a cupcake. Yum.E. 🙂 Good mom for letting your peanut be a kid. I think that’s one of the most important things to remember when having a young one with the D. You’re doing such a good job!
