Your Diabetes Word for 2012

by Leighann on January 2, 2012

One of the ideas that I stress in Kids First, Diabetes Second is that sometimes you just have to take diabetes one blood sugar check at a time. But it’s good to also look at the larger picture and live your diabetes life with greater intention.

On Facebook I asked friends to tell me their diabetes word for 2012. I love the answers:

Cure

I SO meant to comment on that post. Sigh. They are all such great words. I think the one that resonates with me the most is “live” just because despite the ups and downs that diabetes brings with it – you HAVE to remember to live and I want to remind myself that despite my daughter’s diagnosis, she can and will still live a normal, healthy, long life. I have to remember to let her be a kid. I can’t be scared and worry – that’s no way to LIVE. I don’t want my daughter to live in fear or live life holding herself back. We have to LIVE and continue on despite diabetes. Life is good. Life is too short. You gotta live. 🙂
