When Q was a baby I bought her a Rosie the Riveter action figure which has sat in it’s package on her shelf. When she struck this pose the other night she reminded me of Rosie, both literally and figuratively.
All the day long,
Whether rain or shine
She’s part of the assembly line.
She’s making history,
Working for victory
Rosie the Riveter
-Song by Redd Evans and John Jacob Loeb
But listen to the lyrics of the song which gave name to Rosie. Kind of reminds me of diabetes management. We do it day in and day out. We do tasks like checking blood sugars and counting carbs over and over and over again like an assembly line. And we work towards victories both large and small, whether it be successfully guessing a bolus at a birthday party or marking a d-anniversary celebrating the years we lived with diabetes.
We can do it!
